Guide us along the Straight Path,

The Path of those You have blessed—not those You are displeased with, or those who are astray.

Al-Fātiḥah, Ayah 6–7

Night 2

And ˹remember˺ when Abraham raised the foundation of the House with Ishmael, ˹both praying, ˺ “Our Lord! Accept ˹this˺ from us. You are indeed the All-Hearing, All-Knowing.

Our Lord! Make us both ˹fully˺ submit to You and from our descendants a nation that will submit to You. Show us our rituals, and turn to us in grace. You are truly the Accepter of Repentance, Most Merciful.

Al-Baqarah, Ayah 127–128

Night 3

Yet there are others who say, “Our Lord! Grant us the good of this world and the Hereafter, and protect us from the torment of the Fire.”

Al-Baqarah, Ayah 201

Night 4

The Messenger ˹firmly˺ believes in what has been revealed to him from his Lord, and so do the believers. They ˹all˺ believe in Allah, His angels, His Books, and His messengers. ˹They proclaim,˺ “We make no distinction between any of His messengers.” And they say, “We hear and obey. ˹We seek˺ Your forgiveness, our Lord! And to You ˹alone˺ is the final return.”

Allah does not require of any soul more than what it can afford. All good will be for its own benefit, and all evil will be to its own loss. ˹The believers pray,˺ “Our Lord! Do not punish us if we forget or make a mistake. Our Lord! Do not place a burden on us like the one you placed on those before us. Our Lord! Do not burden us with what we cannot bear. Pardon us, forgive us, and have mercy on us. You are our ˹only˺ Guardian. So grant us victory over the disbelieving people.”

Al-Baqarah, Ayah 285–286

Night 5

Āli-ʿImrān, Ayah 8

Night 6

Our Lord! Indeed, those You commit to the Fire will be ˹completely˺ disgraced! And the wrongdoers will have no helpers.

Our Lord! We have heard the caller[1] to ˹true˺ belief, ˹proclaiming,˺ ‘Believe in your Lord ˹alone˺,’ so we believed. Our Lord! Forgive our sins, absolve us of our misdeeds, and join us with the virtuous when we die‎.

They replied, “Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we will certainly be losers.”

Al-Aʿrāf, Ayah 23

Night 9

Laylatul Qadr

(The Night of Decree)

Laylatul Qadr is a night of immense blessing, mercy, and forgiveness. Worship on this single night is better than worship for a thousand months (Qur’an 97:2–3). The Prophet ﷺ encouraged the believers to strive in worship throughout the last ten night.

Narrated ʿĀ’ishah (رضي الله عنها) :

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Search for the Night of Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadan."

— Sahih al-Bukhari (2017)

What to Say on Laylatul Qadr

ʿĀ’ishah (رضي الله عنها) asked:

“O Messenger of Allah, if I know which night is Laylatul Qadr, what should I say?”

He ﷺ replied:

Allahumma innaka ʿafuwwun tuḥibbul ʿafwa faʿfu ʿannī
(O Allah, You are Most Pardoning and You love to pardon, so pardon me.)”

—  Jami` At-Tirmidhi (3513)

Laylatul Qadr is among the odd nights of the last ten nights of Ramadan, and its exact night is known only to Allah. May Allah ﷻ allow us to witness it and accept our worship. Āmīn.
