UEF Islamic Sunday School Registration & Enrollment – Q&A

  1. What happens after I register my child, and can I pay tuition right away?
After you submit the registration, your child’s application will show as Registration Incomplete / Pending Final Approval. The UEF Admin team will review it to ensure it meets all requirements.

Once approved, your child’s status will be updated to Active. Class placement may or may not be assigned immediately—final assignments will be confirmed before the first day of school. Please check the Family Portal regularly for updates.

You may pay tuition anytime after submitting registration, even while your child’s status is still “Pending Final Approval.” Immediate payment is not required. See Question #4 for payment instructions.

  2. Is there an age requirement for enrollment?
Yes. Children must be at least 5 years old by the Islamic Sunday School registration deadline to enroll in Kindergarten.

  3. When does registration close, and can I join mid-year?
Registration closes once we reach capacity or the announced deadline, whichever comes first. We do not accept new students mid-year.

  4. How do I pay tuition?
Please refer to Appendix 1 of the Student & Parent Handbook for step-by-step instructions on how to make a tuition payment through the Family Portal.

While we encourage families to pay tuition in full after registration, full payment is not required upfront. You may pay at your own pace as long as the full balance is paid by the end of the school year. When using the Family Portal, you will see flexible payment options, including:

    • Pay in full
    • Pay 20%
    • Pay 50%

You may return at any time to make additional payments as your schedule and financial allows.

  5. Do I need to create a PayPal account to pay tuition?
No, you do not need a PayPal account. You can pay as a guest without signing up for PayPal. Please see Appendix 1 of the Student & Parent Handbook for full instructions

  6. Can I pay by cash or check?
While we prefer online payments through the Family Portal, we do accept cash or check if necessary. These must be paid in person, and a UEF Admin will manually update your account balance afterward.

  7. What if I decide to withdraw after registering and paying tuition?

    • If you withdraw before the school year begins, you will receive a full refund.

    • If you withdraw after school has started, a partial refund will be issued based on the semester breakdown. For example:

      • If you paid $400 for the full year and withdraw during the first semester, the second semester portion (e.g., $200) will be refunded.

      • The first semester tuition is non-refundable once classes have started.

  8. What happens if my registration is denied after I’ve paid?

If your child’s registration is denied by the UEF Admin team for any reason, you will receive a full refund of any tuition paid.

  9. Where can I find the school calendar?

The full academic calendar is available online. Please visit: https://www.ueffw.com/sunday-school

  10. Do volunteers receive a tuition discount?
Yes. UEF Islamic Sunday School provides tuition discounts for active volunteers based on their role:

    • Teachers & Admins: 50% tuition discount

    • Assistant Teachers: 25% tuition discount

To qualify, volunteers must be officially assigned a role and actively fulfill their duties throughout the school year.

    How to Apply:

    1. Tuition Discount Request: Email masjid.darussalam.fw@gmail.com to request your discount.

    2. Financial Aid (Optional): After your tuition discount is applied, you may also apply for financial aid (see Question #11).

Note: The tuition discount is optional. If no request is received, full tuition will remain in place.

  11. Is financial aid available for families who need assistance?
Yes. UEF Islamic Sunday School understands that financial challenges can arise, and we are committed to keeping Islamic education accessible for all families. As part of this effort, we already offer built-in tuition relief through our sibling discount structure:

    • 1st child: $400

    • 2nd child: $300

    • 3rd child and beyond: $100 each

In addition, families are welcome to pay tuition at their own pace, such as in 20% or 50% increments, as long as the full balance is paid by the end of the school year. This flexibility is intended to ease the financial burden without needing to request aid.

If your family is still in need of additional financial support, you may apply for financial aid by completing the Financial Aid Application. This option is open to all, including Teachers, Assistant Teachers, and Admins, even if you are already receiving a volunteer tuition discount. The UEF Admin team will review your request and notify you of the final decision.

  12. Do I apply for financial aid before or after registering?
Please register your child first. Once registration is complete, you may then submit a financial aid application. Financial aid requests are almost always approved. The process is primarily a matter of formality rather than strict evaluation.
